Albert “Al” Posner, age 90 of Plainview, NY former Albany resident died on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Plainview. Born on January 4, 1927, Al was the son of the late Lillian Horowitz Posner and Israel Benjamin Posner. He was a graduate of St. John’s Law School and was a former Assistant Attorney General for New York State. After Al’s retirement from NYS he opened a used car business. He grew up in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Albany in 1961 to raise his family. Al was an avid sports fan and was a great fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, then New York Mets. He also enjoyed playing tennis and golf. He had been a member of Congregation Ohav Shalom in Albany for many years. where he served as Past President as well as Past President of the Ohav Shalom Senior Citizens Housing Association. He was also active with the Temple brotherhood and served on the bingo committee.
Al was married to B. Deborah Posner until her passing in 2004. He is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline (Jackie) Posner Huttemann (Gary) and a son, Mark Posner
(Mary Lou). He also leaves a sister, Bernice Hyman and grandchildren, Emily, Julie, Brian, Benjamin and Nicholas as well as 7 great grandchildren.
Services at Congregation Ohav Shalom, 113 New Krumkill Road in Albany on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at 11:00am with interment to follow in the Ohav Shalom Cemetery on Church Road in Guilderland, NY. Friends and family are invited to a reception on Sunday following the service of intement at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1389 Washington Avenue in Albany through 5pm
