Judith L. August
Loudonville - Judith (Judy) August died peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2017 surrounded by family.
Judy was born in Hudson, NY on April 3, 1938 to the late Lee and Harold Levine. She managed Bookland book stores and subsequently ran a successful stationery and invitation business for over 35 years. In spite of many physical challenges over four decades, she lived an extremely full and courageous life. Judy always maintained a positive outlook and was a constant source of inspiration to her family and friends. Every week she enjoyed the Sunday NY Times crossword puzzle and was an avid bridge competitor who played regularly near both her homes in NY and Vermont. She travelled extensively and enjoyed attending theater, concerts and movies. She often stated that her three favorite places were on the beach at Cape Cod, under her tree on the lawn at Tanglewood, or at a black jack table in Las Vegas.
Judy is survived by her husband and love of her life, Herbert G. August, Jr. She is also survived by her five children, including Linda (Jim) Glucksman of Rye Brook, NY, Lisa (Bob) Bernstein of Belmont, CA, Pam August of Latham, NY, Dean August of Clifton Park, NY and Gary (Gabriela) August also of Clifton Park, NY. She is survived by 11 grandchildren including Zachary, Sarah, Hannah, Rebecca, Jacob, Jay, Amanda, Drew, Matt, Miles and Jeffrey.
Services will be held at Congregation Berith Sholom at 167 Third Street in Troy, NY at 11 am on Thursday May 18th. Interment will follow in the Congregation Berith Sholom Cemetery in Troy. Donations in memory of Judy may be sent to Congregation Berith Sholom where Judy and Herb were also married.
The period of mourning will be observed at the August residence, 7 Brinker Way, Loudonville on Thursday 7 to 9 pm.
