Rosenthal, Harold (Hal) J.

 

Delmar – Harold (Hal) Rosenthal, 67, passed away on June 10, 2017. He was born on November 30, 1949 in Brooklyn, N.Y. and grew up in in South Hempstead, N. Y. He attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and then earned a law degree at Temple University. He worked as a VISTA volunteer at Monroe County Legal Assistance in Rochester, then moved to Albany to work at the Albany Legal Aid Society in Cohoes, and next worked at the New York State Mental Health Information Services representing mental health patients. After that he worked for many years in the Litigation Bureau of the New York State Health Department. After retiring from the state, he was employed by Ostroff Associates.  When his children were young he served as president of the board of Trinity Daycare, and later became president of the Elsmere Elementary PTA. He was a very active member of the B’nai Sholom Reform Congregation, serving as temple president for two years. He greatly enjoyed cooking, traveling, hiking, folk music, and golf.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul and Richard.  Survivors include his parents, Norman and Muriel Rosenthal of Royal Palm Beach, Florida; his wife, Mari Vosburgh; and his children, Mark (Elizabeth) and Liz. 

 

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at B’nai Sholom Reform Congregation, 420 Whitehall Rd, Albany followed by interment  in the Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy. Shiva will be observed at the family’s home at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, June 14th and 15th.
