Obituary of Johanna Takaroff

Johanna Terker Takaroff, age 108 of Schenectady, NY died peacefully on Monday, August 21, 2017 at her residence. Born in NYC, Mrs. Takaroff was an elementary school teacher in NYC and later taught in the Draper School District in Schenectady. She was a member of Congregation Agudat Achim in Schenectady. Johanna was a champion scrabble player and made quilts until her mid 90’s .
Mrs. Takaroff was married to Theodore Takaroff until his passing in 1990. Loving Mother of Susan
(Sonya) Trevizo of Schenectady. Cherished grandmother of Michael Johnson of Schenectady and Melissa Elbaum of Mt. Clare, New Jersey. Great grandmother of Eric Johnson, Abigail and Isaac Elbaum.
Johanna will be remembered as a friend to many and was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Services at Congregation Agudat Achim, 2117 Union Street Schenectady on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 1:00pm. Interment will follow services in the Agudat Achim Cemetery in Rotterdam, NY. Those wishing to remember Johanna in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Discretionary Fund at Congregation Agudat Achim. The period of mourning will be observed at the residence, 1466 Sumner Avenue in Schenectady on Friday at 9:00am where a service will be held and on Sunday through Tuesday where a service will be held each of those evenings at 7: 00pm.
