Obituary of Seymour Faust

 

Albany – Seymour “Sy” Faust, 92, passed away on Saturday, August 26th, 2017 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home.

Born in Manhattan, he was the son of the late Edward Faust and Eugenia Ginsberg.

Sy served with distinction in the US Navy during World War ll in the Philippines as an electronic technician's mate third class.

Sy retired from the Herricks School District after more than 30 years of teaching. He was a dedicated teacher and rarely missed a day of school. He talked fondly of his students and colleagues over the years. He was the go to “science guy” in our family. Many summers were spent traveling with his family creating many wonderful memories.

Sy will be remembered as a kind, intelligent, friendly and gracious man. He was an active member of Temple Sinai in Massapequa, NY serving as a board member and principal of the Hebrew school for many years. He was an avid bridge player and bird watcher.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Agnes Faust; son; Steven Faust (Mary Beth); daughter, Ellie Schantz (Lawrence); granddaughters, Joelle and Julia Schantz; Sarah and Rachel Faust. He is also survived by his sister, Rabbi Emily Korzenik; nephew David Korzenik(Anne); nephew, Jeremy Korzenik; niece, Deborah Korzenik-Posner (Mike); nephew, Joshua Korzenik (Rachel) and grand nephews and nieces.

All services will be private.
