Obituary of William Marin

 

William (Bill) Marin, age 92 of the Massry Residence in Albany, NY died on Friday, October 20, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany after a long and well lived life. Bill was a lifelong Albany resident and was a graduate of the Philip Schuyler High School in Albany and Siena College. He served in the Army during World War 2 and was a purple heart recipient. Bill was a member of Albany Jewish War Veterans Post # 105 and was a former member of Temple Israel and Congregation Ohav Shalom both in Albany. Bill also was a longtime member of the Independent Benevolent Society in Albany He had been the co-owner of the former Paragon Paint store originally located in downtown Albany and later on Central Avenue in  Colonie retiring more than 25 years ago. Bill enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Naples, Florida, gardening and bowling. Bill was loved by all who met him.

 

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 69 years. Muriel Silverman Marin. Father of Jeffrey Marin (Laura) of Alexandria, Virginia, Janice Tramontano (Ronald) of Naples, Florida and Debbie Lewanda ( Joe) of Slingerlands, NY. Grandfather of Allison D’Antonio (Ryan), Marisa Tramontano  ( David Horowitz) , David Marin   ( Rachel) , Stacey Marin- Goldaris ( Bobby Goldaris), Daniel Lewanda ( Tia Long), Jenna Lewanda, Christine Faga ( Angelo) and Brian Tramontano  (Amelia) . Great grandfather of Micah Horowitz…Bill was predeceased by his brother, Irving Marin.

Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue in Albany on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 2:00pm. Interment will follow in the Independent Benevolent Cemetery in Albany.
