Obituary of Marvin Tonkin

 

Marvin Tonkin, 90 of East Greenbush, NY died on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at his residence. Marvin was born in Rensselaer and was a lifelong Capital District resident. He was a Navy Chief Petty Officer for many years retiring in 1984. He had also been employed as a school monitor for Columbia High School for 12 years. Marvin was a member of several veteran’s organizations in the area as well as a member of Fleet Reserve Association

 

Marvin was predeceased by his wife, Mary Flory Tonkin and his brother, Earl Tonkin. He is survived by his brother, Arya ( Ish) Tonkin ( Carol) of East Greenbush, NY  Cherished Uncle of Mark Tonkin (Mary Anne) of East Greenbush, Michelle Coyne of Poestenkill, and Terri L. Smith (Michael ) of East Greenbush.. Marvin also leaves several great nieces and nephews as well as other family members.

 

Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue Albany on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:00am with interment to follow in the Beth Abraham Jacob Cemetery in Guilderland, Those wishing to remember Marvin in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Daughters of Sarah Foundation, 180 Washington Avenue Ext. Albany, NY 12203or the Arthritis Foundation.
