Gertrude (Trudie) Wolkenbreit of Amherst MA, formerly a resident of Albany, New York and Delray Beach, Florida passed away peacefully at home on December 10, 2017.
Trudie was born in New York City where she lived until meeting her husband Sam on a sorority trip to Albany. She taught history at the Albany High School for many years and is still remembered fondly by many of her students. After retirement, Trudie and Sam moved to Florida where they became avid golfers and generally enjoyed their retirement. She resided there until Sam’s death in 2001. She then moved to Applewood, a senior residence in Amherst MA where she continued to reside until the time of her death. At Applewood, Trudie made many new friends and again became a student taking courses as a part of the learning in retirement program offered in connection with the many colleges and universities in the Amherst area.
