Leonard (Len) Leibson, 98, died on January 31, 2026, at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shelley, to whom he was married for 73 years; his son, Barry Leibson (Nina Fleishman); his grandchildren, Seth Leibson (Ivy Hest) and Rachel Leibson (Philippe Chow); and his great-grandchildren, Oliver, Anna, and Milo. He was predeceased by his daughter, Jodie Leibson.
Len was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, and in New York City. He served in the Navy on a dry dock at the end of World War II, then studied art before starting his career in sales and sales promotion. He and Shelley settled and raised their family in the Chicago area, eventually establishing their own sales business. They retired to Sarasota, Florida, where Len was able to devote more time to art and produced a number of wonderful sculptures and paintings. In 2017 Len and Shelley moved to Troy to be closer to their family.
Len will be remembered as a remarkably friendly, open, and accepting man who was interested in the life of everyone he met and who loved his family dearly.
Funeral services will be held privately for the family.
